Of everything you could eat, green vegetables give you more nutrition than any other foods. The easiest way to have lots of these superfoods is in a Green Smoothie!
As a Certified Personal Trainer & Health/Lifestyle Coach, I’ve worked with hundreds of people on wellness and clean eating, and provide a number of fabulous recipes in my soon to be launched 28 day on-line program. One of the easiest ways to eat all your greens is by drinking green smoothies. Juicing your greens is great too but juicing removes all the fiber which is uber important for us!
Here are three of many why reasons everyone should be adding green smoothies to their diet:
1. GREENS ARE SUPER FOODS WITH OPTIMAL NUTRIENTS
Our bodies need essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are readily bio available to our 70-100 trillion cells (yes, we are made of that many cells. Greens contain these plus they contain both soluble and insoluble fiber to keep your digestive system working properly, many of the enzymes needed to break down our food, provide alkalinity to the body and are full of pure hydrating water.
2. GREENS STRENGTHEN OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM
Greens are the only foods than contain chlorophyll . Chlorophyll is like liquid sunshine that strengthens your immune system and helps to control inflammation (aka free radical damage –the true cause of disease and aging).
3. GREEN SMOOTHIES ARE EASY TO DIGEST
When you blend greens you do the first step in breaking them down for your digestive system. This allows your body to send more energy where it’s needed (healing, that tough ZUMBA class, mental challenges etc.)
4. GREEN SMOOTHIES ARE EASY TO MAKE
Here’s a sample recipe from my brand new cookbook:
The banana brings natural sweetness to this super green smoothie
1 banana (use ½ only if diabetic)
4 leaves kale
1/2 tsp cinnamon
⅛ -1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
3 scoops Plant based meal replacement (for a complete meal)
1 cup coconut or regular water
Put all ingredients in a Blender or Vitamix blender.Blend until smooth and drink. That’s it!This will store in the fridge for a few hours if you want to drink some for a snack as well. Can easily be doubled for 2 delicious smoothies.
