Over the years my clients have asked me if they should do a detox and if so, how often should you detox, once or twice a year or seasonally?
My studies in Applied Clinical Nutrition taught me that there are essentially two types of detoxes: intensive & lifestyle.
An intensive detox usually takes the form of a juice fast, either full on or modified. While with a lifestyle detox you are simply eating more whole organic plant foods, incorporating lots of fiber, taking probiotics, drinking purified water, and avoiding chemicals and parabens in your in your body & facial care products.
Intensive Detoxes
If your daily diet includes a lot of meat and foods containing additives you may want to do a deeper detox or cleanse in the spring and fall. Also if you feel as if you have lost much of your vitality/energy through the winter a deeper detox may have you feeling better in no time.
Lifestyle Detoxes
I’m a bigger believer in making small, but important lifestyle changes every day so your digestive system & vital organs (skin, liver, kidneys etc.)are being constantly supported and cleansed. Our Creator designed these systems are designed to keep your body efficiently detoxing all of the time!
By making small daily healthy changes to what you put in & on your body you may never need to do a larger cleanse.

Beautiful Skin, Hair & Nails
When I was in my 20’s I worked as a cosmetician in I high end esthetics store. On my lunch hours I used to frequent the health food store a couple of stores down from my store. I was always amazed at the beautiful, translucent & wrinkle free skin & thick shiny hair that the two 60 year old shop owners had. One day I could not contain myself & asked them how their skin & hair looked so youthful. “My dear, they said, the skin is the largest organ of detoxification in the body. What you put into & on your body will show up on your skin. Great skin is a reflection of your overall health”
While I love great body/hair products and makeup, I firmly believe we need to build our beauty from the inside out.
Not only is our skin the last organ to receive nutrition in the body, yet is among the first organs to show signs of an imbalance, sensitivity or vitamin deficiency.
Besides taking a pharmaceutical grade probiotic daily ( or at least every other day) I recommend take one digestive enzyme before your meal to ensure you’re absorbing the most nutrition from your food, so they can support those important organs keeping your body healthy and clean!
Love the comment of building beauty from the inside.
