When I was a young girl I used to love going “Trick or Treating” in my “not scary” Halloween costume (I usually dressed as an angel) and used to fill up a pillow to the brim with all the treats I could manage from my generous neighbors. After coming home I would take out all my “loot” and spread it on my bed and decide which were going to be the first treats I would consume. At this point my mother (a wise health-conscious nurse) would tell me that I was only allowed 2 candies every day until the “loot” had been consumed. Every year this would frustrate me, especially when I arrived at school the next day to see my fellow classmates lunches filled to the brim with candy! Looking back now, knowing what I know about sugar, I thank my mother for being a tough candy marshal! (Thanks Mum!)
